Nick Phillips
Nick Phillips comes from a rich sports background, as a former collegiate athlete as well as a competitive Equestrian. He has capitalized on the benefits that CrossFit has offered by increasing his strength, endurance and mental stamina. As a Level One CrossFit instructor, he believes CrossFit is more than just a workout, it’s an essential component of well-being.
Darin Barton
Darin loves Crossfit and competing. He’s been a lifelong athlete, excelling at football, basketball, and track. His transformation to CrossFit became official when he became a Level 1 certified trainer. He specializes in fitness for longevity of life and over all wellness. Darin is dedicated to help those who are ready to change their life. He’s also pretty darn good at double unders.
Nicole Sherman (Yoga)
Nicole started practicing yoga over 5 years ago. She got her yoga teacher certification on the island of Hawaii, which was a dream and life changing experience. She teaches a vinyasa power flow class and likes to challenge her students with core strengthening, continuous flow and, of course, lots and lots of handstands. She also works closely with people who have scoliosis, as she was diagnosed with the disorder at any early age. She knows the importance of using yoga to benefit the body and gain extra mobility to CrossFitters.
Kate Gordon
Kate is a former dancer and gymnast who discovered crossfit in 2011 and has never looked back. Immersing herself into the sport of fitness she completed her Level One CrossFit Certification in New Zealand in April 2012 and moved to Los Angeles to find experience as a competitor and coach. Kate has been with Golden State Crossfit since May 2012 and established herself as a passionate and strong coach. She has made many gains not only in her own training with the competition team and with CrossFit Games athlete Lindsey Valenzuela but as a coach to the incredible members of Golden State. What inspires her are the people that want to challenge themselves every time they walk through the door, they are what crossfit has become for her.
Jimmy Devoti
Jimmy competed in Division 1 Collegiate Men’s Lacrosse on the #1 Nationally Ranked Loyola Greyhounds, going to a Final Four his freshman year. Before college, Jimmy competed in football, basketball, lacrosse and baseball. He discovered CrossFit a year ago and hasn’t stepped foot in a regular gym since. The competition, passion and camaraderie are his favorite aspects of the community and sport. Jimmy had a successful personal training business here in LA and plans on transitioning all his clients into the CrossFit world.

Chuck Stumpf
Chuck grew up in NY playing various sports including Soccer, Hockey, and Baseball. He was also a competitive ski racer as a youth and transitioned to snowboard competitions as a teen. After college, Chuck began to compete in Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, and MMA events. He discovered Crossfit by accident in 2010 and has never looked back. He loves coaching and sharing his knowledge of health and fitness. If you see Chuck around the gym don’t hesitate to ask him any questions you might have.
Sara Ramsey
Sara never considered herself an athlete until she found CrossFit in 2009. Living in Santa Cruz, Ca, the birth place of CrossFit, she was introduced to the program and never looked back. CrossFit has helped Sara overcome the asthma and scoliosis she has had since childhood. Her biggest accomplishment was running her first 5K just five months into her training, something she never thought would have been possible because of her asthma. Sara loves to power clean, split jerk, deadlift and watch the San Jose Sharks play hockey.
Rhett Rosella
Rhett comes from a diverse sports background of lacrosse, track, soccer, basketball, snowboarding and surfing. He started CrossFit a year ago and it has changed his life. CrossFit has strengthened him physically, mentally and spiritually. His favorite part of the sport is the strong sense of support, community and competition that he gets from his CrossFit family.
Luke Maznio
Luke was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado where he grew up skiing, hiking, and hunting. During his high school days he played soccer and ran track but it wasn’t until he found crossfit that his passion for healthy competition was truly fulfilled. Once he became involved in the crossfit community there was no going back, and now as a coach he uses that passion to improve the performance and experience of other athletes.
